The Dumont Cemetery is maintained by residents of the area and is operated as a non-profit in cooperation between Clear Creek County as owner of the property and the Mill Creek Valley Historical Society as guardians. This agreement was signed by both entities in 1993 and provides protection to the grounds as the township of Dumont is not incorporated.
The cemetery is located at 278 Trails End Road in the township of Dumont, Colorado. The oldest grave recorded is that of one George Arnell from 1868. We are working on a database, as time permits, and hope to make sure all the information we do have is correct and up to date. Photos of every headstone will be added and we are working on a map. The database can be searched.
The Dumont Cemetery for years was the pauper cemetery for Clear Creek County and has a number of graves with no markers. It is impossible to know who lies in some of the graves because the original records were lost in a fire. Anyone that finds an error in our records or would like to contribute a story to be included in “Beyond The Gates” is encouraged to contact us at; information@mcvhs.org
